Muay Thai
Muay Thai is a striking Martial Art and self defence system that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. Muay Thai is seen as one of the most effective striking Arts in the world and is incorporated as the main stand-up fighting form of MMA and Israeli Krav Maga.
Muay Thai is referred to as the “Art of Eight Limbs” or the “Science of Eight Limbs” because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight “points of contact”, as opposed to “two points” (fists) in boxing and “four points” (hands and feet) used in other more regulated combat sports, such as kickboxing and Savate. This is also the reason why it is seen as so effective. The use of the elbows and knees allows the practitioner to afflict serious damage to opponents and allows protection from oncoming attacks. Victory MMA also implements elements of Western Boxing into the Muay Thai classes to help develop more powerful striking technique to improve their overall game. The classes are presented in a safe environment to prevent injuries and to help students reach optimum fighting fit form.
